OUR COMPANY
Our
company founder and CEO Ahmed Shareek, is a descendent
of an Arab trading family who settled in Sri Lanka.
With trading in his blood and the internet opening up
for retail sales, he decided to take his trading skills
to new heights and Crescent Gems was born. Established
in April of 1997, Crescent Gems is the pioneer gem seller
on the internet from Sri Lanka with our business having
expanded in leaps and bounds because of our business
model.

with even the most savvy of buyers often paying too

Retail
prices are high because retail OVERHEAD is high. When
you buy a gem in a store you are also paying for the
heating, lighting, display cases, furnishings, insurance,
security, advertising and salaries of sales staff but
this overhead is not just part of the costs
The
'price' of a gem increases every time it changes hands.
The miner sells it to the importer who sells it to the
cutter who sells it to the dealer who sells it to the
jeweler and then to the customer who has thus paid AT
LEAST five times more than he could have if purchased
direct. Crescent Gems buys as close to the source as
possible, either buying gems straight from the mines
or from talented cutters who have purchased from the
miners. We then sell directly to YOU.
WE
CUT OUT THE FAT !
The
ultimate goal of most consumers is to get the best value
for their money. In starting Crescent Gems we have attempted
to create the ultimate VALUE by cutting out every last
bit of overhead possible. We DO NOT HAVE retail space
for gems to be displayed and only occasionally sell
at gem shows. Your gem may not be shipped in the most
expensive packing (it will be securely packaged to prevent
damage), you may or may not have a picture to guide
your purchasing decision but you WILL see the BEST PRICES
for the quality of the gems, and that's guaranteed or
your money will be refunded.

of actual gems for sale that change frequently as new
gems arrive and others are sold. Please feel free to
have a look around. If you are ever not 100% satisfied
with any of our natural colored stones, simply return
them for an immediate and unconditional refund.
